all the trimmings (blog)

So excited to share that my design “All The Trimmings” placed 3rd in Minted’s annual Corporate Holiday Challenge! You can see the full list of winners here! So many stunning designs this year, and they still have yet to announce the results of the BIG holiday challenge. Eeeeks…cannot wait to see the full assortment when it launches later this Fall!

Over the past year I have been working with Speck Products to design custom cell phone case designs for seasonal holidays. The above cases were two designs I setup for potential Halloween cases that were sent to me as prototypes. I love the Candyshell cases from Speck! They are gorgeous in person and I was so happy they sent me a couple to see first hand. The printing is vivid and sharp and I love the pop of color on the inside too! The potion case I think has been shelved at the moment, but the Skull case can be purchased here!

Well it’s that time of year again…the long summer wait as the Minted team makes their selections for the 2012 Holiday collection. The challenge closed mid June, but we will not receive any results until late September. It’s only a few months, but it is a very, very grueling wait. This year’s over 2600 submissions were seriously stunning and made for some very exciting competition. I enjoy being pushed and motivated, and this group of designers definitely does that! I really tried to put my best foot forward with my submissions and now all that’s left to do is cross my fingers and hope for the best. Cannot wait to see the final picks…whether or not I am included I know it will be a gorgeous collection.

Here’s a peak at some of my cards that made it to the final round of voting:

Two new challenges just wrapped up over on Minted.com! The first was a moving announcement challenge in which I submitted 2 designs. Both designs were inspired by vintage posters. I tired to use some new color combos and explore some fun texture options. Vote for the moving announcements here!

The second challenge was for graduation announcements. They could be announcements for graduates of all ages, but I stuck mainly to high school. I’ve been really inspired by info graphics lately and used that as the foundation for the first design. It has several customizable facts and details since each graduate is special! The second announcement combines my 2 favorite things: color and pattern! Vote for graduation announcements here.

Happy Friday everyone!

I am totally in love with these prints by Danny Haas! They have a very retro vibe but still manage to incorporate some modern flair. I think it would be so fun to get a few and frame them all together in matching frames…now I just need to find a place to put them! They are definitely going on my Christmas wish list 🙂

Waiting for the Holiday Challenge results this summer was agonizing, but definitely worth it. A few weeks ago, Minted launched a stunning line of holiday cards! Looking through the assortment makes me realize what an amazing community of designers Minted has. So many new styles, unique colors, a variety of formats…seriously check them out for your holiday cards this year!

Here are a few of my new holiday cards for sale on the site (including Lunar New Year cards!):

One thing is for sure…I am obsessed with color 🙂 Another exciting new design I have for sale is my very first Minibook card! I drooled over the minibook card designs last year and am considering ordering a few this year to try them out. There are some beautiful designs available and they would certainly be a stylish way to send warm wishes this holiday season!

The next new products to launch will be the notebooks which I am beyond excited for. I have already been looking through the winners a few times to pick out which ones I want to buy first! Come on Minted…I can’t wait any longer 🙂

Here are 6 of the 7 designs I recently submitted for Minted’s Notebook Challenge. I tried a little bit of everything in this challenge…hand drawn type, hand painted florals, fancy, chic, modern…you name it, I tried it. I love challenges like these because they have very few restrictions and really allow you to explore all kinds of styles and mediums. Minted will be selecting 40 designs total to be launched around Christmas, just in time to be used as awesome gifts. There were some amazing designs submitted…I even eyed a few I might like to buy for myself! Voting kicked off last week so stop by today to vote on your favorites here!
